About
I’m a result-oriented engineer and software architect from Sri Lanka with over a decade of experience managing the development and operations of mission-critical enterprise applications and API gateways. I’m currently Architect – Platform Business at Dialog Axiata PLC, and I’ve previously served as CEO / CTO of Inviu Labs.
I lead teams through research and innovation to build secure, business-viable solutions for global players, with hands-on experience across digitalization, APIs and IoT, from research and solutioning to development. I work well under pressure with a practical, problem-solving approach, and I’ve run knowledge transfers for teams across different countries. I’m also a public speaker, blogger, technical writer and Mozilla Representative.
Much of my work sits where technology meets business: turning business problems into solution designs, introducing new business platforms, and defining the governance and security that let those platforms run safely at scale.
What I do
I bridge the gap between technology and business, turning business problems into solution designs. I work with stakeholders to understand the real need, then architect systems that are both technically sound and commercially viable.
I design and introduce new business platforms, taking ideas from research and solutioning through to launched products — including API platforms and developer ecosystems like Dialog Ideamart.
I define the process, API and security governance that keep platforms consistent and safe — setting the policies and standards teams build and operate against.
I architect secure software solutions and make sure existing software is developed and deployed securely, using patterns like API gateway security, OAuth 2.0 and access control.

Ran the company’s technology arm alongside the business side, including HR and finance. Consulted other corporates on restructuring legacy IT setups with the latest technology and digitalizing their day-to-day business.

Managed, designed and deployed IoT, software and data solutions based on Industry 4.0. Delivered innovative, data-driven digital solutions for various industries and upgraded existing solutions to the latest standards for local and overseas partners.

Dialog Axiata PLC
Technical lead for the Ideabiz, IoT and Ideamart platforms. Headed all technical teams at Dialog Ideamart, responsible for the Ideamart platforms and for IoT device architecture, engineering, operations and support. Managed the engineering team and IT infrastructure to meet business goals.

Worked in the Kohl’s Innovation Team, building working prototypes of new concepts for Kohl’s Department Stores, and built an Elo touch application for the NRF show. Worked across Python, HTML5, JavaScript, Java, Scala, iOS, PHP, .NET/C#, XNA, Kinect and NFC.
2012 – 2013
Leecom SCADA Systems
Lead software developer and designer of the computer-side systems for Waternet, which shows live water levels and pump status across 300+ Sri Lanka Water Board locations, and for the Western Production Monitoring System in Colombo. Worked with PHP socket servers, Arduino, FriendlyARM, PIC controllers and SCADA.
Mozilla
Firefox OS localisation, local app development and developer education for the Sri Lankan Mozilla community. Built the mozilla.lk web portal and a Sinhala typewriter for Firefox OS.

Dialog’s API platform and developer ecosystem, letting the public and SMEs build their own products and services on Dialog telco APIs. As technical lead, I headed all of Ideamart’s technical teams.

Malinda is an extremely talented software engineer who does not have the answer “I can’t” in his vocabulary. You throw any new technology at him and he will deliver within budgets and deadlines. Though he joined Zone24x7 at a very junior role, he quickly gained the trust and respect of many seniors. He’s one of the very few engineers at his capacity that I’ve seen, to whom you can provide the minimum instructions to work with, yet have the utmost confidence in delivery in the highest quality.
Malinda worked in parallel with me in a rapidly paced short term project, which involved expertise in different technologies and areas. From the start Malinda was motivated and was committed to getting the work done.
